As promised this site will endeavour to keep all dedicated
Elvis fans fully posted with what's going on on the Elvis Presley Tribute
/ Impersonator scene here in good old U.K.
No doubt all fans will have seen the recent World's Greatest Elvis
Competition on the BBC who are to be sincerely congratulated for putting
the one and only King back in the public limelight via this very dynamic
show.
With contestants from all over the world taking part there can be little doubt the BBC did its homework in searching out performers and it was a real pleasure for we die-hards to see up close and personal committed artists determined to give the very best individual impersonations.
It was also very special that the BBC mustered such a "highly qualified"
panel particularly in the shape of Joe Esposito as there was no-one
closer to the great man than Joe himself.
All contestants on Saturday in different ways produced worthy efforts. However in the end there could be only two finalists and it was down to Gino Monopoli and Shawn Klush and whilst Gino tried his best there can be little doubt Shawn was head and shoulders above and very clearly the best Elvis Presley on the night. Not only did he sound almost perfect but just as importantly his appearance and mannerisms presented an almost eerie resemblance to the King himself and he is to be congratulated in having been voted the World's Greatest Elvis by the show's studio audience.
We confidently predict we will now be able to look forward to a full national tour by Shawn and what a stage presentation this will surely be.
To those very talented artists who didn't make the final line-up, thank
you for your contribution in what was a most memorable show.
As all Elvis fans know there are literally hundreds of Elvis Presley impersonators throughout the U.K. and hopefully thanks to this show they may now be spurred on, come out of the woodwork and help maintain the Elvis Presley phenomena stronger than ever.
